Occasionally, when filers receive their accepted email, the e-filing application can not attach some documents in the filing due to file size restrictions. Filers will see the following message highlighted in yellow at the top of their email:

Warning: One or more files could NOT be attached to this email due to file size restrictions. Click here to open your filing, and download your filed copies.

This message displays when the sum total for the returned attachments exceeds 7 MB. Our application uses Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) to send email, and while it is a cost-effective and flexible email service, Amazon SES limits the size of emails we can deliver. Therefore, we can not increase the file size restriction that Amazon imposes.

It is important to note that this file size restriction has nothing to do with a filers submission to the court. Any pending filing that has an Envelope Number has already successfully sent the documents to the court, and they are in the filing clerk’s queue for review.

Retrieve Missing Copies

For those emails that display the warning message, filers may retrieve the missing document in one of two ways.

  1. Click the CLICK HERE link in the yellow warning box. That link takes users directly to the accepted filing. Scroll to Section 2, and click the PDF icon in the Filed Copy column to print or save your file-stamped copy.
  2. If already logged into our system, filers may click Filing Status from the left menu of the dashboard, and then, click the accepted Filing ID (Detailed steps to return to a filing can be found here). Scroll to Section 2, and click the PDF icon in the Filed Copy column to print or save your file-stamped copy.

Courtesy Copies and File Size Restrictions

Additionally, filers may send courtesy copies of the submission to various people and parties on the case. The same file size restrictions are in place for these emails as well. These recipients will see the following warning message highlighted in yellow.
Warning: One or more files could NOT be attached to this email due to file size restrictions. Please contact the filer to obtain copies of the document.

Per the message, the recipient will want to directly reach out to the original filer. They may then request any missing documents from in that particular filing.
