Key Dates and Filing Changes to Mark on Your Calendar

Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.: the Monterey County Superior Court will NO LONGER accept electronic filings via File & Serve for non-criminal matters.

January 5, 2026 through January 19, 2026: During this period, the court will only accept paper filings for all non-criminal matters. It’s essential that these paper filings are accompanied by the correct filing fees. You can find information on the applicable fees by checking the Monterey County Fee Schedule.

January 20, 2026: The new eCourt system officially goes live and e-filing will again be available for non-criminal matters.

Important Reminders for Filings

Conform to California Rules of Court: Regardless of whether you’re filing electronically (before January 4) or by paper (between January 5 and January 19), all documents submitted for filing must strictly adhere to the California Rules of Court Title Two. This ensures your submissions are properly formatted and accepted by the court.

If you have questions about the status of a specific filing, filing and calendaring time frames, or applicable filing fees, you should contact the appropriate non-criminal division directly. This will help you get the most accurate and up-to-date information.

The Monterey County Superior Court acknowledges that this transition requires patience and cooperation from everyone involved – legal counsel, the public, and justice partners. These temporary adjustments are in place to help ensure the switch to the eCourt system is as seamless as possible, with minimal disruption to court operations.

Stay informed and plan your filings accordingly to help make this transition a success!
